Milwaukie First Friday, Private Art Lessons and After School Art Clubs!

Again, I've been too busy with life to tend to my blog, so here's my attempt to make up for lost time!

Since my last update, I've been teaching children's art classes, including 3 art camps, at a local children's resale business here in Gladstone called the Cookie Pot. Unfortunately, the space has become unavailable so I've decided to venture out into the elementary school again to pursue my teaching. I'm still working on the deets, but should have more info as to what schools and dates I'll be holding classes. I'm hoping it can be open to all students in the area.

My students have a blast in these classes and it;s a great time for kids to be creative, improve skills, learn new techniques and gain confidence as an artist. But most importantly, have fun!

For those that have children who want a more personal, detailed approach to their artistic lessons, I have individual tailored private art lessons available. Ages 5 to 18. Please email me for more details visit my website at leeannegibney.com.

Just a reminder August 4th is First Friday in Milwaukie from 5-8pm! I'll be at my booth right beside Made In Milwaukie on SE Monroe. Come out to support talented artists, live music, food and beer!

Also, the Gladstone Festival is next weekend and there will be local vendors, music, food and drinks!

Speaking of food and beer, I recently created a logo for a new café opening in Gladstone on Portland Ave called The Brew! They open in the fall and it's definitely going to be worth checking out!

Thanks for taking the time to read this and check in with my whereabouts! I hope to see some of you out there at these events!

New Books Alert!

Life has been very busy but I've managed to keep at it! Besides homeschooling 3 children and being a mother,  I'm still doing private art lessons for children/ young adults and working on the many story ideas I've had for awhile. One includes a mini novel!

I am proud to announce 2 new additions to the Percy the Panda series, Percy Goes Jurassic and Percy Goes Aquatic! Written by my talented husband, follow Percy through his most amazing adventures yet!

Back with a brand new look, the re-release of my very first children's book,  I Am Weird! An instant classic for all ages! This book took a hiatus for a couple of years when it was published by Mehta Publishing. I have since lost contact with them, while never receiving a royalty check, I decided to reclaim my personal favorite book.  It is now digitalized and looks better than ever!

                               I Am Weird

Keep a look out for Percy Goes Jurassic for it takes a few days for that to be available on Amazon!

I still have most of my books and prints available at Made In Milwaukie. They are an amazing group of people running a really cool store for local artists. Stop by if you are ever in downtown Milwaukie!

Thank you for checking in and have a blessed day! 🌟

Illustrator show at Milwaukie City Hall

Happy Spring Everyone!

I'm super excited to announce that I'm a featured illustrator at Milwaukie City Hall for the month of May, along side two amazing local artists, including poster/comic illustrator, Justin Hampton ( who has done work for one of my favorite bands, WEEN!).
This 2nd Annual event will kick off with a reception at City Hall (downtown Milwaukie) from 5pm-7pm, for the First Friday Art Walk on May 5th (Cinco de Mayo!). This will be an incredible show! Great for all ages, lots of great local art/vendors, music and food! Presented by the Milwaukie artMOB.

In addition to this show, I am having wood block prints made for my newest series of work. I have the pleasure to be working with Illustrator Brenda Dunn, who has a unique process for creating these affordable and professional reproductions! I'm also looking to a local print company to order prints through so SOON I can reopen my Etsy Store and have inexpensive prints available to the public. Look out for my illustrations around the Milwaukie/Portland area because you never know where they'll spring up!

Thanks again for all of the support from friends and family! Much love and gratitude!

May 2016 Update

Friends and Family,

Wow! What a month May has been and now it looks as if June is shaping up to be another big one!

For one, my Kickstarter ends today and although I only reached 19% of my funded goal I will continue working towards self publishing my children's book no matter what! I am not discouraged only more ready to make this happen. I want to personally thank each and every one of my family and friends who backed my project and believed in me. I can't express to them enough how much I appreciate the support.

I also had a great success with my art showing at One Draw Two and spending my time finding frames to personalize and neatly display my work. Actually, I'm kinda addicted to the thrift store frame section right now.

A new project I'm happy to share about is for Voices 4 Animals and Children where I will be creating illustrations for a book the founder of this organization is writing. It is backed by UNICEF and the UN and will focus on teaching children about healthy eating, plant based diets and protecting the planet and animals, I was contacted by them based on my passion for art, animals and nature. You can check out their website below for more information about the organization.

Voices 4 Animals and Children

Since I have so much work I've framed, I have secured a booth at the First Friday Milwaukie on June 3rd. This will be my first time selling as a vendor and I'm SUPER excited to share my art with my community and become more involved with the local art scene in my hometown. The event is free and family friendly. If your in town stop by and say hi from 5-9pm, There will be live music, food and lots of local artisans.

First Friday Art Walk Milwaukie

Another project will fire up in June that I'm stoked about as I've been contracted to illustrate a 15 page children's book.

My plate is definitely FULL but so is my heart being able to do what I love and forge my own way in this world as an artist. It's not an easy thing to do but it's what I've been preparing for my entire life.

Thank you all again for the support and encouragement of my art. Each like on a picture or post, every nice comment and share makes a difference. Without art life would just be boring, right?

Much love and gratitude,

LeeAnne Gibney

First Friday Milwaukie

Greetings!

Just a quick reminder to let everyone know I will be a vendor at First Friday Milwaukie, June 3rd from 5-9pm. I will be at my own booth selling my illustrations where most of them will be framed and under $30!!!

This is an amazing event for the community and helps support local artists. It's family friendly and free! Stop by and say hello it's going to be a gorgeous evening!

I've also started an exiting project for Voices 4 Animals and Children where I'll be collaborating with other illustrators for a children's fun-book educating people about how being vegan benefits our animals and planet.

Here's a sneak peek at one of the pages I've illustrated.

Stay tuned for more news coming soon...

Much love and graditude,

Lee Anne Gibney
